Kia Commercial AKA You Can Do With This Gerbils
To start off, I just want to say that this commercial gets some attention. Everyone I know, who has television, has seen this commercial. The general responses I've heard were either proclaiming that the commercial was humorous or that it was stupid. Almost always, the people who said it was funny were young, usually under age thirty. The ones who said that it was stupid were regular adults. The idea for this commercial was creative, but they seemed to only have a positive response on young people. The point of a commercial is to advertise a product. This commercial tried to do that, but I believe they didn't fully accomplish that. Most car commercials state some good facts about their product and insert something entertaining to make the commercial watchable. This commercial... it skipped the part with the facts about the product, which (in most cases) are the reasons a person wants to buy that product after viewing the ad. The commercial had some thought put into it, and it definitely has some entertaining points to it. I imagine Kia wants people of all age groups and backgrounds to like their product. However, in this commercial, I saw a creative approach to a young audience. This commercial is on a variety of television channels that I know, but it's difficult to make a solid opinion about that because I am a young person, and, as expected, I watch channels that are viewed by a younger audience. This does support what I mentioned about Kia aiming towards a younger audience, but it does not support that they don't want this commercial to give a positive impression to non-young people. The bottom line for this critism is that if Kia is aiming for a young audience, they're doing a decent job making the commercial entertaining, even though the commercial tells me almost nothing about the car other than that the car is "where it's at". If Kia wants to make a generally good impression on an audience of all ages, then they should take note and make the commercials about the products; not about rapping gerbils.
